The Space Race looks at the history of racial injustice at NASA and follows the stories of Black pioneers in STEM, including Guion Bluford, Ed Dwight, Ronald McNair, and Charles Bolden. The directors also follow stories of inequity through the decades and touch upon the impact that the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and the national reckoning with racial injustice had on NASA. The film provides insight into the struggles for equity faced by Black scientists at NASA and tracks their groundbreaking successes. The screening will be followed by brief remarks and a book signing session by Carl McNair, brother of the late astronaut Ronald McNair.
