Cup of Truth and LGBTQ+ Institute present:
The Fantasies of Future Things: An Evening with author, Doug Jones
The Cup of Truth series at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights invites guests to grab a cup of coffee and settle down to talk about topics relating to history and social justice. In partnership with local coffee shops in the Atlanta area, Cup of Truth offers an intimate chat with authors, experts, and speakers where anyone in the community is welcome to come listen and learn.
In recognition of Pride Month, the LGBTQ+ Institute honors and celebrates our beloved Bayard Rustin Society- Atlanta member, Doug Jones, who in April, released his debut novel “The Fantasies of Future Things.” Reminiscent of Barry Jenkins’s Moonlight, two men in Atlanta reconcile their human dignity against the price of their professional ambitions working for a real estate development company displacing Black residents in preparation for the 1996 Olympics.
